On New Year's Day, a single flower opened on my Contorted White Flowering Quince. It was a good way to usher in 2016. As you can see in the picture, there are a ton of buds moving towards flowering. Potentially, I'll have more flowers than ever with this tree.

Fred, good shot! If you could, would you shoot a flower, macro, to see the flower details? Thanks

Here's the flower details, Gary. Top and side.

In the side view, you can see another flower just about to pop its bud. In the top view, there are just a bunch of flower buds developing. Guess you can see the same flower about to open in the side view, too.

Do they usually open around this time of year or was it just a "Quince-idence" ;)

Thanks Fred, I love your camera work! I hate to be a pest but could you shoot one more with just the stamen and pistil? Pretty please :p

This is the earliest this tree has flowered, but it keeps getting stronger and stronger so I suspect it will continue to flower this time of year or maybe even earlier.

Have you guys seen the Salmon colored one? Contorted
Funny...though I hear you're quite the chef these days!
Don't have any whites or salmons, just a few reds, which are STILL blooming.

The flower pictures were all taken with my iPhone6 through an app called Camera+. The main picture of my quince was taken with a Lytro Illum camera, which is a light field camera.

Fred, thanks for the info! I assume the app is through the app store? Again, good work!
