All the laundry was done and a couple of meals for the week made by noon. So I got this variegated p. afra into the @sorce pot I won in the "who says ones" contest. View attachment 290494

Damn! You snapped!

That's fresh!

Speaking of fresh.....

Life is good, and no matter what, I wish you all the best in this time of x.

Simon Leach talks about his parents growing up in the war, and how they said it was hard, but a good time because people were close.

This too can be a good time.

The Sorceress and I were watching Action Bronson's food show on Hulu....
Showing communal ovens, I forget what Islamic country, but if you can't cook at home you can cook there...

I Thought how sad it is that Americans will let their neighbor starve, because we are so isolated all the time, and only concerned with ourselves.

Hopefully we a jarred to change something, to care more.

Maybe some who was going to commit a mass murder will not be able to get the medication that makes em do it, and peace is found.

I am your neighbor...(lend me some sugar!)
If anyone needs anything, including, especially including, skills to live with less than you once had...
Don't be afraid to ask a pro!

@Adair M ... Better? Thanks my friend.

Some better. But it’s the two trunks in the middle that run parallel to each other that are the real problem. Another stick is needed to push those two away from each other.

the apex on the right-most tree needs cutting back and thinning.

the apex of the tallest tree needs cutting back.

actually, all the branches need shortening! Tridents grow like weeds!

@Adair M I appreciate your advice. I do. But at this time having two teachers offering guidance is having my head spin. Having Sergio from the get go. I'm going to seek his guidance on this. As I respect the both of you. He was the initial teacher on this tree. But thanks for the suggestions.

That’s quite alright. For sure check with Sergio.

In the meantime, look at the picture of your tree, and you tell me if you like the two parallel trunks.

Repotted this Virginia Creeper... movement in the trunk is hard to capture. View attachment 290062View attachment 290063
I agree with Adair and I am pretty sure Sergio will agree with the points made. Quite surprised if he differs! The clump has lots of potential and will look much better with the trunk movement and wiring adjustments after the change. I am not so troubled by the respective heights or length of branches at this point. Always awkward stages between acquiring the proper thickness fro branches. Lots of progress has been made so far and minor adjustments are part of the process. Looking forward to seeing this develop further.

Dang!
We're gonna get into the 70's F today.....and 80f tomorrow!

I still have a bunch of starter trees that should be repotted, plus still waiting for my Crape Myrtle and Bald Cypress to wake up.....might happen this weekend with these temps.

I just bought a crepe myrtle and bald cypress. The cypress is showing its first signs of pushing buds but the myrtle, I have been told, will take a few more weeks to begin budding. I'm excited for the myrtle especially, its my first one and I have high expectations after seeing one the Knoxville show that was absolutely awesome.

I have a couple of crapes hanging out in the garage. My beautyberry is just starting to push buds. The crapes are still fast asleep. I have a couple in my landscape and they are always the last thing to wake up in the spring.

Governor about to order shelter-in-place here in Michigan... and on top of this mayhem, snow last night! Actually quite beautiful.

Looking at the temps, buds are going to start popping in the next week or two! Plenty of work while cooped up at home.

Nice work. I kinda liked the vertical image. I’m not a fan of the forced “fan” look. I think the work you did looks really convincing though. The uneven spaces are spectacular. The heights are well selected. And, I like that short tree in the front....a unique attraction. Excellent bonsai pot selection. Well done. Really.....Mighty fine!

The part I circled is a very interesting construction. I need to explore something like this. Thanks for including the photo...sparked an idea for my winter fully-exposed storage.

Used to protect strawberries from birds in summer, but used for protecting young seedlings/smaller trees in winter. Chicken wire with an old hose I cut up for structure.

Normally I would welcome the end of the world... Spending quality time with the family and messing with my trees.
But because that would be much too enjoyable... I threw out my back... unable to do a whole hell of a lot. All I can do is sit around watching my trees grow (swear I saw a bud pot today on my cypress but that could be the medication).... and of course hang out in the nut house with ya'll. Love looking at what everyone is up to this season!
Anyway... be safe all.

Only good thing to come of it is that I cant bend over to pick up cat crap in the litter box (filthy beasts).

I'm proud to say that, for being always prepared, I did not contribute at all to the TP rush. Furthermore, I have applied my mad bonsai skill to TP propagation. Below is the TP budding in NAPA floor dry 8822 substrate.

Pretty coarse substrate. Careful the new growth doesn't get too abrasive. Perhaps a rich, soft potty...er, potting soil will allow for supple growth?

Only speculating, as I have not tried my hand at propagating a TP tree....though I have thrown a few "blossoms" at the odd house or two..... 🥴 😄 😄 😄 😄 😄

No social isolation for me! I have a double exemption: agriculture and IT. so, no extra tree time for me. :-(

Recommend keeping those lower buds to improve your TP taper. 😆

Potting soil is just too wet. Good for wet wipes but not TP. I agreed that it was too coarse but I was going after dryness.

Our entire construction industry just got orders to halt tomorrow night, so bonsai and beers for the next 2 1/2 weeks! Luckily my cold studio, and the greenhouse space I rent are all open! 😁 20200323_165302.jpg
