    5-year plan

Just some of my collection I wanted to post as a follow up to my original post. I had a goal and set out to achieve it. Dave

A few more for the bench. (Sorry for the sideways pics...If someone were to take the liberty of fixing that...)

    5-year plan

Ok, not much response to this one. Yet here we are 5 years later, nonetheless. Let's see how this big "plan" turned out. Dave

    First Trident

Yeah, I had some club members over yesterday and we thinned it out some. I'm hoping to get it defoliated and wired and pruned more this summer. Thanks.

After sifting soil, do you use the fines for anything?

You sift soil? I mix turface, chicken grit, and about 10% anything organic into a big tub. No sifting. This is for anything that is not in a Bonsai pot. Most of your trees should not be in Bonsai pots. For your nice trees. (these are the ones that cost several hundreds of dollars). Buy some...

New (to me) bonsai work station :)

It was the combo of the dental picks and the pliers that brought me right back to the "mad dentist" scene.

New (to me) bonsai work station :)

For some reason, I'm reminded of Steve Martin in Little Shop of Horrors. "to be a dentist...". "feed me seymore"

    Mylar Tropical Enclosure

Ryan, are there any trees that grow outside in Va? It seems like this is way too much extra work. Besides, you may find in the near future that you're gonna wanna use that bedroom for a different type of biology experiment. Dave P.s. not saying you've done a bad job, but the most...

    Lets Get Walter Back

After reading through all of this, I think we should all ask ourselves one question before posting... wwWHd?

    Lets Get Walter Back

Smoke, I think you're missing the point here. This is still America, where we all get a trophy just for trying. So let's not get our panties in a bunch as we head on over to mamby pamby land to gather by the campfire while we sing kumbaya. Dave

    Engelmann Spruce Update

Much better for sure. Can you extend the jin into a bit of shari to blend the living and dead portions? I think that would enhance the image a bit. Dave

    Deadwood on Deciduous Trees

Poink is correct. In the case of this tree, remove the dead portion and carve a bit of a hollows at the junction where you have living branches. I would try to wire the rest into a broom style.

    Malllsai

So, I went to the new mall expansion in town the otherday, and I saw something that caught my eye. I think this might be a step in the right direction for "mallsai" Dave

If memory serves me, you added a couple nice larch to your collection in the past year as well. Dave

Fall color and a new pot for Seiju elm

The tree is masculine, the pot choice should reflect that. Both the tree and pot are nice, but may not be the best combination. Dave

Ok, these should provide a better picture.

    Larch #9

Vance, No hard feelins' here. Unfortunately, I've been dealing with some major back problems and am unable to move this tree by myself. I tried to enlist my girlfriend's help, but had no success. I will certainly post pictures with a less cluttered background as soon as I get some help...
