Edit Posts Feature?

When I open a thread I see down at the bottom that the option to edit posts I make is turned off.

Anyone know why? I have found it handy when a misspelling or wrong word error gets by me when posting.

I just checked a few of my older posts and the "edit icon" is active on all.

I just checked this thread and it says "HTML code is Off". That has been the case for the last month or so.

I haven't gone back in time to see if it is on or off months ago and that would really be of no use in that I wouldn't want to edit them.

I am interested in being able to edit a current post should I mistype or feel that some statement wasn't clear and needs correcting.

I am wondering if there is some setting I need to change or some setting the moderators need to change.

HTML is turned off but that does not mean that the edit function is.
