Least favorite

Can't stand yews, because they remind me of an unhappy childhood.
Don't like the way hollys look.
I've killed every spruce I've touched.
Don't like tropicals just because.

I can't say that I have a least favorite. My favorites are tropicals, but I can't think of anything that I don't like.

Honestly IMO if there is/was something I didn't like it would be because I myself simply did not prepare enough to take care of it rather than the tree being something I don't like or something that was too hard to take care of.

The Fukien Tea gets tons of hate here it seems, and that's fine, to each his own. But my FT's do great (and I'm in Michigan) they just take a bit of a game plan to overwinter them inside is all. If you don't plan ahead for them though then I'm sure it would be easy to not like them.

I have two FT trees one doing good and the other has no leaves please share with us what you do to keep them alive maybe in another tread

My least favorite is the love/hate of Hinokis. I love the way a nice hinoki looks, but they're a pain in the @ss.

Absolute least favorite.....Ginseng ficus. I'm renaming it the testicles tree.

I would say privet because it's habit is so boring. Tough as nails though. I repoted mine for the third time in a year and it responded with new growth in the middle of summer.

Looks like I have most of what others don't like!

I actually started with Serissa back in the Philippines. Kept one for 10 years or so w/o any care except water. Still alive when I left it.

My 1st bonsai here is a Fukien tea. I have 4 right now, 3 are from Walmart.

Have several Privet (5 I believe), lots of Holly and a Ginseng Ficus.

Have lots of tropicals I bring indoors in wintertime. That part I do not enjoy...dislike even.

ok...i'll play...I hate JBP! It seems they are next to impossible to keep healthy in my garden. I have a couple that were gifts, one from a good friend that passed about 10 years ago, otherwise they would all my gone from my collection.

Two themes...

Non-natives: there are so many trees considered to be the classics, that are too hard to get them to thrive here. Jap maples, tridents and my JBP. Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it to work these classics here with a two month summer.

Lollipop on a stick: I'm not a big fan of the look.

I won't own anything that needs to come inside for the winter...and I especially hate Fukein Tea.

Anything that needs extraordinary measures to keep alive in my current location. This includes tropical and, unfortunately, collected pines from the northwest. Watching several beautifully aged collected Lodgepoles and ponderosas get ravaged by fungal disease and go belly up despite my best efforts after the move to GA was heartbreaking...never again while I live here.

Nope you're not alone. I don't like them either despite the fact that I do admit they can make for great bonsai. Not a species I am attracted to.

I do have only one, a scots pine that I posted here a while ago with a very fat trunk.


I better duck as well!!!
