I'll use this thread to gradually post some trees I want to sell.

I'm at a stage in the hobby where I have far more trees than I want. I most enjoy collecting in the wild and the first 3-10 years of initial styling, but not so much the final refinements nor the maintenance, so I have decided to sell some of my more finished trees, trees that are pretty much where I wanted to bring them to.

Here are photos of some of my trees for sale. The photos are either recent, or represent trees that are easily trimmed and cleaned back up to a similar look - in other words nothing is significantly different. Other photos of the trees can often be found on my progression threads elsewhere on this site. Anyone ready to make a purchase can ask for an updated photo if the posted one is more than a season old.

Some trees are too large or too fragile to ship, and would need to be picked up at my home in the Puget Sound area. Some I would only sell to people living in climates where I know they would survive.

Most are in Tokoname pots (some are antiques) and a few others in Sarah Raynor pots. I'll specify if I know.

Many times the price reflects only a small mark-up over the price of the tree and pot, and these are often my best trees and I really wouldn't mind keeping them, so the prices are pretty firm. The cost of shipping will be tallied and added in later if I ship them.

I'll start with about a dozen trees.

First, a Cryptomeria, variety unknown, 22" above the soil, in an antique Tokoname pot. $600. Can be shipped.

Alpine Fir Scene. The pot it's in has been Photoshopped to cover the Chinese caligraphy along the front, but it will be sold in that pot (hard to find suitable pots this size), and the new owner may paint over or abrade off the characters, or - as many people who have seen this scene have thought - re-planted it onto a slab. 44" above pot rim at tallest. Must be picked up. $1000.

Mountain hemlock. 23". Tokoname pot. Will not sell to someone living where it will likely die, and since that radius is not all that far, I prefer it be to picked up, but will ship with the jins protected as well as I can if you insist. $900.

beautiful work and can see why they would be difficult to part with. Will continue to monitor this thread in anticipation for seeing some more shore pine. Would definetely love to come over for a visit sometime. :)

I've got two other Shore pines in early stages of styling, one posted on BNut, but a long way from selling and far from from the quality of the one for sale here. You ought to go see what Shore pines Dan has for sale at Elandan. Actually, he'll tell you every tree he has is for sale, but if he doesn't really want to sell it he'll price it accordingly. :)

Let me know - via PMs - some weekends you might want to come over and we can set something up.

Will

Will,

Some very nice trees you have up for sale. I may be interested if you do this again next spring. I still hope to get out to Elandan one day too.

::initiate friendly bump::

Will, would it be possible for you to post the hardiness zones that each tree does well in?

These have all sold. :)

Anything for sale that would live in zone 7???? It's been years since this post you must have something weighing your bench down.

G52 parting is such sweet sorrow. Some great trees there. I'm curious how much the larch sold for? I've been working with larch and will begin selling a few over the coming years. It is hard to price these things sometimes. Knowing the market would help me determine fair pricing. I just don't see too many quality larch for sale, as compared to other species. Thanks

Dave

Hi HotAction - the larch sold for $1000.

jkd2572 - I'm in the Puget Sound area in a cool, moist area within zone 8, so most of my trees would probably do well in zone 7. Let me know of any you're interested in. All the ones posted (and many more) that have not been identified as sold on the thread are available.

This one sold the other day as well:

Aaarrrgggghhhh!!!!! You sold your larch!!! That was my absolute favorite tree of yours. You obviously have no hoarding tendencies, Will. I think someone would have had to do me some serious bodily harm in order for me to part with that tree. Whoever was lucky enough to get that tree got an amazing deal. $1000 for that tree is a steal IMO.

I won't pretend that I could purchase the Mountain Hemlock - not for any other reason than I have absolutely no more room on my porch for this stuff, though it's incredibly beautiful - but a question: how would it not survive in most Zones? I'm in Zone 9 and have seen a few here that are in great shape. Are they just particularly hard to take care of?

And not that I need to add to the chorus, but you have some really incredible stuff.

Hot action, rest assured that the larch is going to a loving home. Where it'll be appreciated for the masterpiece of natural art that it is indeed. And yes I'm the lucky one. :)
