Thanks guys. I feel like the tree still has to take a couple of steps backward before it can really start moving forward, but I'm enjoying the process.

How do you go about weaning those thread grafts down?
Not sure I know what you mean - when they're fused, I'll just cut off the foliage side :)

I think you could have done your thread graft like the one MarkyScott did in one of the thread. I believe he has the tip of the donor going under the tree. That way there is no scar on the exit side.
Anyway, I like the movement and taper on this one.

. . . speaking of flaws, I really still need to deal with those heavy branches up high. I chopped the top and cut the branches back pretty hard for now, and I think I may try some thread grafts at the collars before I remove the big ones entirely.

I really like the trunk line this has. I'm looking forward to seeing how this one progresses over time.
