Heat wave

135 F roughly 57 C - that is the temperature that if sustained for any significant period of time, all plants and animals including humans simply die. Any desert, that regularly tops 135 F, or 57 C, will be largely devoid of life. Only survivors will be nocturnal creatures that avoid the heat by burrowing or otherwise getting out of the heat during the day. No humans can inhabit such an area without constant air conditioning. Sweating and panting for humans, dogs and even camels will no longer work, prolonged exposure to such temperatures is usually fatal. Agriculture is not possible in heat this extreme.

That is the temperature all workers should just quit for the day rather than working on a roof. They are foolish if they keep working through this type of heat.

We are trail blazers here first and only country out of the Paris Climate Accords, so smart the rest of the world doesn't get it. Truthfully I find it really embarrassing.
It's a shame actually.
In a few short years we will be leading again.
Of all of the blunders the orange buffoon pulled in the name of money, pulling out of the Paris accord was the most aggregious.
Everything he has done will be undone.
His "work" will be erased and he will be relegated as an asterisk in the history books as one if not the worst.

Back to the fires in Australia, this is really terrible. It might seem to be a benign consquence, but when such competitions as Sydney’s New Year’s Test match between Australia and New Zealand is jeopardized, people who live in cities can probably realize the importance of what's happening. The Superbowl cancelled because of risks of eathquakes caused by fracking? The support for the "Greens" would rocket ! :D

But Scott Morrisson had soothing words when back from Hawai while Australia was burning: no end to the coal industry. Jobs saved. You'll see later for the children of those who have kept their jobs.

The situation was pretty bad in California last summer too from what I watched on TV. I was even surprised to see so few messages about it, as if people were now fatalistic, as if nothing could be done. Que sera sera...

Floodings in France and other places in Europe : maybe it's high time to think of other ways of managing urban developpement and land management. Which is something you don't have to be either a green ayatollah or a stubborn climate change denier to think about...

First recorded in 1987 (31 years ago - I was 33!) :

I don't really like Peter Garrett's voice, so here's a karaoke version for us to sing along :

Or.

Pray.

"We're doing it because it's a passion. It's a brotherhood," says Daniel Knox.

"When that photo was taken of me, I had done a 15-hour shift out there."

He is one of thousands of Australians who've dropped their ordinary lives to battle the nation's raging fire crisis.

For weeks, the 22-year-old landscaper has lived around his phone, springing into action when called upon.

He is part of the New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) which calls itself "the world's largest volunteer firefighting organisation". Its 70,000 members are extensively trained and, except for a few senior staff, mostly unpaid.(...)

Heroes. Not golfers or Hawai holliday makers, just plain, simple heroes.

I’ve thought about putting succulents outside to force them to flower....on Christmas eve, that’s a never. It was 63 today peeling off layers.

Our hearts and minds @Shubui. As above, stay safe

I think you might have to wait another 4 1/2 years though..
He may not even make it to the next election.
Trump said that raking the floors helps prevent wild fires .
He says a lot af stupid things.
He's back on the windmills now.
But they don't cause cancer now they're killing thousands of birds.
Coming from the guy who rolled back regulations on clean air and water it's ludicrous.

Ah, come on, the so-called "global warming" is fake news. There's nothing we can do to help anyway.

My advice : pray.

You just can'y help yourself can you. The heat is caused by a positive Indian Ocean Dipole. Nothing to do with co2
